Published in New York in 1935, without any author, credits or date, the book The Secret Museum of Mankind consists of five volumes — each dedicated to one continent — 564 pages with 994 photographs of peoples and cultures that illustrate the miraculous diversity of our species. This encyclopaedia gave birth to a record company, 60 years later, which took its name and inherited its missionary spirit. Its compilations provided the inspiration for João Nicolau to bring some of the most precious music from his record collection to the stage, sharing it in a free dialogue with fixed and moving images.
